Abstract:
Interfacial reactions between Ti-47Al-2Cr-2Nb (at. %) alloys and yttria moulds with diacetatozirconic acid and yttria sol as binders were studied. Certain interfacial reactions between TiAl alloy and diacetatozirconic acid - yttria mould occurred to form new Y-Al oxide phase (Y4Al2O9) on the interface and in the bulk of TiAl alloy, and the oxygen and yttrium increments were 0.34 wt. % and 0.0067 wt. % respectively. TiAl alloy did not react with yttria sol - yttria mould to form new phase, however widespread Y2O3 inclusions dispersed in the alloy bulk, and the oxygen and yttrium increments were 0.12 wt. % and 0.14 wt. % respectively. The analysis results indicate that binders have important influences on mould stability and alloy contaminations.
