Abstract:

This paper focuses on laminar axisymmetric radial flow field structure influenced by inlet pipe Reynolds number and geometrical aspect ratio in the spacing region which consists of two parallel discs. Numerical method and particle image velocimetry technique have been employed to analysis the evolution of flow field structure at different Reynolds numbers and the flow separation and reattachment points' position of different isolated vortexes at different aspect ratios. Results show that, according to the number of vortexes, the radial flow pattern will gradually present four different stages with inlet pipe Reynolds number increases. And there exist significant relationships among the radial position of the flow separation and reattachment points of different isolated vortexes.
