Abstract:

A multi-cell concrete-filled still tube(CFST) mega-column with special shaped section was proposed, and its seismic behavior under horizontal forces in different direction was researched. The experimental research on seismic behavior of six 1/25 scaled multi-cell CFST mega-column models was carried out under vertical loading, as well as the horizontal low cyclic loading in different direction. The axial force ratio was 0. 5 and 0. 25. The horizontal load was applied along the long axis, the short axis, and in the direction of 45° intersetion angle with long and short axes,respectively. The load-bearing capacity, stiffness and its degeneration, ductility, hysteretic properties, energy dissipation capacity, and failure characteristic of models were analyzed based on the experimental results. Numerical simulation analysis was also made, and the its results agree well with those from the test. The results show that the multi-cell CFST mega-column with special shaped section has good seismic behavior, and the behavior is relevant to the direction of horizontal forces action.
