Photo-isomerization enabled reversible wavelength switching in fiber random laser for color image encryption SCIE

Abstract :

Random lasers owing the functionality of generating random spectra facilitate the chaotic encrypted systems essential for cryptography in the current information epoch. Nevertheless, single wavelength bands of random lasers provide an unsuitable key for image encryption that causes outline interpretation and a fragile complex dual chaotic encryption demanding secured image encryption. This research presents an inevitable development of a reversible switchable wavelength fiber random laser composed of the mixture of highly polarized intramolecular charge transfer dye molecules and the optimum concentration of titanium dioxide acting as gain and efficient scattering mediums respectively within a polyvinyl alcohol matrix. This mixture with a certain ratio is coated on a fiber employing a dip coated method, followed by a layer of polydimethylsiloxane to facilitate with high coefficient of thermal expansion. Random laser emission is enabled with dynamically switchable wavelengths obeying the excited state intramolecular proton transfer phenomenon under the photo-isomerization. The optimum scatters concentration yields a lower threshold of 32 mu J/cm2 2 with full width at half maximum of 0.4 nm and dual emission reversible switchable wavelength bands centered around 443 nm and 464 nm attributed to inter charge transfer feature of the dye molecules. Thereby, the dual reversible switchable wavelength bands feed as input for a dual chaotic color image encryption system. Further, in this integrated system, beam divergence of random laser emissions remains less than 20 degrees during both situations of with- and without irradiation. This delicate approach paves the way in laying the foundation about the applicability of fiber random lasers in an information security system. Dual-color emissive OLED with orthogonal polarization modes SCIE

Abstract :

Linearly polarized organic light-emitting diodes have become appealing functional expansions of polarization optics and optoelectronic applications. However, the current linearly polarized diodes exhibit low polarization performance, cost-prohibitive process, and monochromatic modulation limit. Herein, we develop a switchable dual-color orthogonal linear polarization mode in organic light-emitting diode, based on a dielectric/metal nanograting-waveguide hybrid-microcavity using cost-efficient laser interference lithography and vacuum thermal evaporation. This acquired diode presents a transverse-electric/transverse-magnetic polarization extinction ratio of 15.8 dB with a divergence angle of +/- 30 degrees, an external quantum efficiency of 2.25%, and orthogonal polarized colors from green to sky-blue. This rasterization of dielectric/metal-cathode further satisfies momentum matching between waveguide and air mode, diffracting both the targeted sky-blue transverse-electric mode and the off-confined green transverse-magnetic mode. Therefore, a polarization-encrypted colorful optical image is proposed, representing a significant step toward the low-cost high-performance linearly polarized light-emitting diodes and electrically-inspired polarization encryption for color images. The authors present a switchable dual colour orthogonal linear polarized OLED by internally integrating a nanograting for selective diffraction of optical modes, which is appealing for applications including polarisation-encrypted colourful optical images and autostereoscopic naked-eye 3D displays.

Strong nonlinear-polarization in ZnMgO epitaxial thin-films with Li incorporation SCIE
期刊论文 | 2024 , 57 (27) | JOURNAL OF PHYSICS D-APPLIED PHYSICS
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

The second-order nonlinear-polarization originated from the interaction between thin-film materials with second-order nonlinear susceptibility (chi((2))) and high-power laser is essential for integrated optics and photonics. In this work, strong second-order nonlinear-polarization was found in a-axis oriented Zn1-xMgxO (ZnMgO) epitaxial thin-films with Li incorporation, which were deposited by radio-frequency magnetron sputtering. Mg incorporation (x > 0.3) causes a sharp fall in the matrix element chi(33) of chi((2)) tensor, although it widens optical bandgap (E-opt). In contrast, moderate Li incorporation significantly improves chi(33) and resistance to high-power laser pulses with a little influence on E-opt. In particular, a Zn0.67Mg0.33O:Li [Li/(Zn + Mg + Li) = 0.07] thin-film shows a |chi(33)| of 36.1 pm V-1 under a peak power density (E-p) of 81.2 GW cm(-2), a resistance to laser pulses with E-p of up to 124.9 GW cm(-2), and an E-opt of 3.95 eV. Compared to that of ZnO, these parameters increase by 37.8%, 53.4%, and 18.6%, respectively. Specially, the Zn0.67Mg0.33O:Li shows higher radiation resistance than a Mg-doped LiNbO3 crystal with a comparable E-opt. First-principle calculations reveal the Li occupation at octahedral interstitial sites of wurtzite ZnO enhances radiation resistance by improving structural stability. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy characterizations suggest moderate Li incorporation increases chi(33) via enhancing electronic polarization. These findings uncover the close relationship between the octahedra interstitial defects in wurtzite ZnMgO and its nonlinear-polarization behavior under the optical frequency electric field of high-power laser.

Transfer-printing a surface-truncated photonic crystal for multifunction-integrated photovoltaic window SCIE

Abstract :

Precise light manipulation is of paramount importance in improving the performance of semi-transparent organic photovoltaics (STOPVs) for their orientation toward building-integrated photovoltaic window. Nevertheless, one critically important issue for the integration of optical modulation with STOPV devices, lies in the damage from the harsh direct deposition steps to the intrinsic properties and long-term durability of STOPVs. Here a transferprinting (TP) approach, in which photonic crystals (PC) films are deposited onto a self-adhesive and flexible matrix for their integration with STOPV devices, was first reported, enabling the resultant TPPC-STOPV devices with superior optical-related multifunction. In contrast to these devices based on direct-evaporated PC film, the non-encapsulated TPPC-STOPVs present an ultraviolet blocking (UVB) as high as 96%, an infrared rejection (IRR) of 92%, an enhanced power conversion efficiency (PCE) by 5% as well as superior long-term durability as 96% of its initial PCE. Their gifted superior UVB and IRR properties are individually on a par with those of the stat-of-the-art commercial optical films for smart solar window. This transfer-printing approach makes it possible to separate the high-energy fabrication of high-quality contacts from target optoelectronic devices, providing a wide range of possibilities for the integration of high-quality contacts with optoelectronic devices, including organic, silicon and perovskite optoelectronic devices, as well as their large-area flexible integration.

Abstract :

Lasing emissions with multiple and tunable modes are promising in coding field as a novel cryptographic primitive. With the advantages of simple fabrication, full-color and high-quality-factor whispering gallery mode lasing inside a circular cross-section, polymer microfibers are attractive for photonic devices. However, polymer lasing microfibers for information encryption have never been reported. Herein, we propose a design of printable lasing microfiber encryption chip by in-situ tuning the effective refractive index of the microresonator arrays via a facile approach. Through inkjet printing high-refractive-index nanoparticles on the designated position of lasing microfiber arrays, the effective refractive index of the microcavities is regulated, and the ratio of wavenumber spacing between transverse electric and transverse magnetic mode to the free spectral range can be modulated, particularly with neglectable influence by the size factor. Thus, the programmable region selective encoding process can be conducted simply by a printing program within several minutes. Besides, the encoded microfiber arrays are encapsulated into polydimethylsiloxane to reduce the scattering loss and environmental interference, and a printable encryption chip is realized. This work is expected to provide a platform for the printable encrypted devices.

Abstract :

In situ self-assembly of semiconducting emitters into multilayer cracks is a significant solution-processing method to fabricate organic high -Q lasers. However, it is still difficult to realize from conventional conjugated polymers. Herein, we create the molecular super-hindrance-etching technology, based on the pi-functional nanopolymer PG-Cz, to modulate multilayer cracks applied in organic single-component random lasers. Massive interface cracks are formed by promoting interchain disentanglement with the super-steric hindrance effect of pi-interrupted main chains, and multilayer morphologies with photonic-crystal-like ordering are also generated simultaneously during the drop-casting method. Meanwhile, the enhancement of quantum yields on micrometer-thick films (Phi = 40% to 50%) ensures high-efficient and ultrastable deep-blue emission. Furthermore, a deep-blue random lasing is achieved with narrow linewidths similar to 0.08 nm and high-quality factors Q approximate to 5,500 to 6,200. These findings will offer promising pathways of organic pi-nanopolymers for the simplification of solution processes applied in lasing devices and wearable photonics.

Trans-Reflective Structural Color Filters Assisting Multifunctional-Integrated Semitransparent Photovoltaic Window SCIE

Abstract :

Multifunction-integrated semitransparent organic photovoltaic cells (STOPVs), with high power generation, colorful transmittance/reflectance, excellent ultraviolet (UV) protection, and thermal insulation, are fully in line with the concept of architectural aesthetics and photoprotection characteristics for building-integrated photovoltaic-window. For the indelible rainbow color photovoltaic window, one crucial issue is to realize the integration of these photons- and photoelectric-related multifunction. Herein, dynamic transmissive and reflective structural color controllable filters, with asymmetrical metal-insulator-metal (MIM) configurations (20 nm-Ag-HATCN-30 nm-Ag) through machine learning, are deliberately designed for colorful STOPV devices. This endows the resultant integrated devices with approximate to 5% enhanced power conversion efficiency (PCE) than the bare-STOPVs, gifted UV (300-400 nm) blocking rates as high as 93.5, 94.1, 90.2, and 94.5%, as well as a superior infrared radiation (IR) (700-1400 nm) rejection approaching 100% for transparent purple-, blue-, green- and red-STOPV cells, respectively. Most importantly, benefiting from the photonic recycling effect beyond microcavity resonance wavelength, a reported quantum utilization efficiency (QUE) as high as 80%, is first presented for the transparent-green-STOPVs with an ultra-narrow bandgap of 1.2 eV. These asymmetrical Febry-Perot transmissive and reflective structural color filters can also be extended to silicon- and perovskite-based optoelectric devices and make it possible to integrate additional target optical functions for multi-purpose optoelectric devices.

Programmable complex pumping field induced color-on-demand random lasing in fiber-integrated microbelts for speckle free imaging SCIE

Abstract :

Miniaturized lasers with on-demand color emission have immense potential in the development of integrated imaging sources. Random lasers (RLs) with cavity-free structures and low spatial coherence are promising candidates for multicolor imaging sources. However, the wide tuning range and high tuning accuracy of continuous and reversible random lasing color with a defined emissive direction remain challenging. Here, random lasing with on-demand color emission and defined emissive direction is realized in fiber-integrated microbelts through programmable pumping. Individual RL microbelts as RL units doped with blue (B)-, green (G)-, and red (R)-emissive dyes and titanium dioxide nanoparticles are assembled on an optical fiber, resulting in high-performance B/G/R lasing. The optical fiber functions as a waveguide that guides the multicolor RL to ensure a defined directional emission. By manipulating the combination of the B/G/R RL units on the waveguide, distinctive lasing colors covering the entire visible spectrum are obtained, including white-colored random lasing. To realize dynamically controllable lasing for on-demand color emission, a pumping strategy with programmable excitation is proposed by shaping the pump beams into different beam arrays for precisely pumping the RL unit combination. We envision that fiber-integrated RL sources can be implemented in various imaging applications, such as biomedical diagnosis, multiplexed communication, and optical sensing.
