The present study investigates the intermittent sampled-data synchronization for a class of space-varying reaction-diffusion neural networks. In the proposed synchronization strategy, the intermittent sampled-data controller is activated only during the work time. We introduce a switching Lyapunov functional respectively related to the work and rest intervals, which is segmented, time-dependent, and continuous in time. By using Lyapunov stability theory, synchronization criterion is proposed to ensure the exponential stability of the synchronization error system. Futhermore control gain is determined, and obtained by solving a set of spatial linear matrix inequalities (SLMIs). Finally, a numerical example is presented to verify the feasibility of the control strategy. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper addresses a fault-tolerant intermittent control for parabolic partial differential equation (PDE) system with Markov jumping parameters (MJPs). Firstly, the fault-tolerant intermittent control strategy is presented by the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) based on an appropriate Lyapunov function, which can ensure the stochastically exponential stability of closed-loop Markov jumping parabolic PDE system. Then, the fault-tolerant intermittent control problem for Markov jumping parabolic PDE system is expressed as an LMI feasibility problem. Finally, two numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper introduces a sampled-data fuzzy control (SDFC) for nonlinear parabolic partial differential equation (PDE) system under deception attacks with Markov jumping parameters (MJPs). In control engineering, in order to fully utilize the advantages of digital technology and effectively handle the nonlinear terms, a mode-dependent SDFC strategy presented by linear matrix inequality (LMI) conditions is given on basis of an appropriate Lyapunov functional, which can ensure the stochastically exponential stability of closed-loop Markov jumping parabolic PDE SDFC system under deception attacks. Finally, an example is given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2024 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

This paper focuses on the guaranteed cost control issue of quadratic stabilization for a class of time-delayed descriptor systems with norm-bounded uncertainties. By applying the Lyapunov stability theorem, a feedback controller with multiple-loops is developed to ensure quadratic stability of the system and restrict the cost performance within a predefined upper bound. Then, the equivalent conditions of the system stability and the cost function satisfying the requirements are given in terms of linear matrix in- equality (LMI) method. Based on the convex optimization techniques, the upper bound of the minimum performance index and the optimal guaranteed cost controller can be determined. Finally, two examples are presented to demonstrate the reasonableness and validness of the proposed scheme. © 2024, Symmetry Integr.Geom. Methods Appl. All rights reserved.

Reducing carbon emissions from households can significantly contribute to achieving carbon neutrality. This study examined household carbon emissions and explored potential issues of inequality in China from 2010 to 2018. We found that the average carbon emissions of all households increased over the years, with the housing category experiencing the highest growth rate of 52.25%. Household carbon emissions are not the same across different regions and income groups. Inequality in carbon emissions is the highest in the eastern part of the country, followed by the central and western regions, and the lowest in the northeast. Carbon emissions inequality is highest among middle-income households, followed by high-income households, and the lowest among low-income households. These differences can be attributed to various factors such as population, technology, and socio-economic status. This study recommends implementing regional carbon taxes and income differential tax policies to address household carbon emissions inequalities.

In this paper, a comprehensive optimization problem is developed for a composite of an assembly line reconfiguration problem with multiple lines and a capacitated lot-sizing problem. Multiple products are considered, whose demand is uncertain and is dynamically forecasted. The production planner is assumed to be risk-averse, and decisions are made contingent upon the risk preference. To model the problem, a stochastic program with two stages is utilized. A solution approach is devised using a divide-and-conquer algorithm, which incorporates a set of valid inequalities. The effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed solution approach are assessed through a series of computational tests. Finally, a case study focusing on an engine production process is presented, leading to the derivation of several valuable insights.

Many researchers have focused on inequalities in income and energy consumption, but research on the regional disparities in natural gas consumption (NGC) is insufficient, which presents a gap about the development of informed policies for sustainable consumption. Increasing provincial NGC is a substantial measure to improve environmental protection, clean production, and the living standards of local citizens. It is necessary to determine the leading causes of inequality in gas consumption to improve the NGC in China's provinces. To fill this research gap, we use the Gini coefficient and Lorenz curve to measure NGC inequality and apply hierarchical cluster analysis and a regression model with Partial R2 to estimate the factors of provincial NGC. The empirical results show a consistently increasing trend in China's NGC over 1997–2019, which has not been accompanied by a steady decrease in inequality, and low inequality is mainly caused by several major natural gas-consuming provinces. Further, the NGC in coastal provinces is more significantly affected by GDP, foreign direct investment, and financial liberation, and the impact of urbanization level and population on provincial NGC has different patterns. © 2024 The Author(s)

This article studies the problem of adaptive boundary observer design for a class of linear hyperbolic partial differential equations (PDEs) subject to in-domain and boundary parameter uncertainties. Based on the swapping transformation technique, a Luenberger-type boundary observer with the least squares parameter estimation law is designed, which relies only on the measurements at boundaries of the system. By employing the Lyapunov function method, we prove that the exponential convergence of the proposed boundary observer design scheme is guaranteed when the observer gains satisfy a set of matrix inequality conditions. Finally, we illustrate the effectiveness of the adaptive estimation scheme by applying it to the linearized Aw-Rascle-Zhang traffic flow model involving the in-domain relaxation time and boundary flux fluctuation uncertainties.

For nonlinear distributed parameter systems (DPSs) with multiple delays, this study considers a fuzzy fault-tolerant boundary control (BC) with stochastic actuator failures under boundary measurement. First, we exactly represent the nonlinear DPS with multiple delays by the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy delayed partial differential equation (PDE). Next, on basis of T-S fuzzy delayed PDE model, a fuzzy fault-tolerant BC design with stochastic actuator failures under boundary measurement guaranteeing the stochastically exponential stability for closed-loop DPS with multiple delays is subsequently presented by linear matrix inequalities. Last, the effectiveness of the investigated fuzzy fault-tolerant BC strategy with stochastic actuator failures under boundary measurement is proposed via a simulation example.

This article proposes a novel framework for studying the consensus problem for a class of nonlinear multiagent systems (MASs) based on decentralized output-feedback stabilization of derived reduced-order fundamental edge states dynamic systems. First, by introducing edge states dynamics with respect to a directed spanning tree of the communication topology, we equivalently transform the state consensus problem into a decentralized output feedback stabilization problem. Then, for the case of linear MASs, we derive a new sufficient and necessary consensus criterion in terms of the concept of decentralized fixed modes and also present a design procedure of the protocol gains in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Next, a sufficient consensus condition is derived in terms of LMIs for the nonlinear MAS with local proportional-integral (PI) observers. Furthermore, to reduce the complexity of the condition verification, we introduce a graph representation of the fundamental edge states dynamic system and decompose it into strongly connected components and, thus, reorganize the condition in a decentralized form. On this basis, we present a hierarchical method to design the consensus protocols and PI observers based on the information of the subsystem itself only. Finally, several numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
