To analyze the viscous dissipation effects of high viscosity ink fluid in the microchannels between the steel roller and the rubber roller of the offset press, the influence factors of the viscous dissipation effects were first analyzed. Then, the fluid simulation software Fluent was used to study the heat generation based on viscous dissipation of high viscosity ink fluid in microscale. An ink fluid simulation model was established in detail considering the viscous dissipation effects, and the characteristics of the ink fluid including the distributions of pressure, velocity and temperature were obtained. The simulation results of diverse channel scales and different ink viscosities were comparatively analyzed. In the meanwhile, combined with theoretical analysis, the impact of channel dimensions and ink viscosity on viscous dissipation was finally obtained. With the decrease of the channel scale, the flow field temperature rises. Besides, the relationship between the highest temperature of the flow field and channel dimensions are approximately nonlinear exponential. With the increase of ink viscosity, the ink flow field temperature also rises. Additionally, the highest temperature of the flow field and the ink viscosity are approximately linear relationship. © 2017, Editorial Department of Journal of Beijing University of Technology.
