To overcome the problem of these parameters that are difficult to obtain from the test measurement directly, this paper investigated the influence of wear degradation of linear ball guides on other parameters. Considering the sufferance load, the deformation and the initial preload of each ball, the models of stiffness degradation, preload degradation, contact angle, critical load, friction coefficient, friction and maximum creepage directly related to the wear degradation are established, respectively. With the wear degradation of linear ball guides, the stiffness and preload of linear ball guides generate degradation ordinarily. Meanwhile, other parameters of linear ball guides such as contact angle of the ball in upper row and lower row, critical load, friction coefficient, friction and maximum creepage are liable to resonate varieties dramatically. The parameters involved above have an important significance in the performance of linear ball guides. In terms of a certain type of domestic linear ball guide, a series of simulation were analyzed based on the established models. Result shows that the wear degradation of linear ball guides affects other parameters to a different degree. The method of the wear measurement of linear ball guides can effectively predict the change regulation of other parameters. © 2017, Editorial Department of Journal of Beijing University of Technology.
