Rolling mill gear box drive system is an important part of the rolling mill system, and it is also a part of the more prone to mechanical failure. After the failure of the rolling mill gear box,its abnormal vibrations will seriously affect the rolling process stability, resulting in roll bearing damage, the rolled pieces quality variation and other adverse consequences. Through the acoustic emission monitoring technology to realize the vibration signal acquisition, and combined with the ICA signal processing method based EMD, obtained the effective method to find and diagnose all kinds of faults of rolling mill gear box. The reliability of this method is verified by the analysis of the measured signal of a rolling mill gear box in a steel mill. The application of this method greatly improves the stability of rolling mill system in the rolling process, and provides the help for the realization of precision rolling.
