The research progress of PI3K/Akt pathway and neural tube development

Neural rube defects is in the early embryonic development,because the neural rube is not closed or closing incomplete as a result of congenital malformation.In the process of the neural tube development,normal cell programmed cell death is indispensable to development factors.PI3K/Akt signaling pathway is one of the important signal transduction pathways in cells and plays a key role in cell apoptosis and proliferation by the downstream molecular activation.In this paper,the relationship between the PI3K/Akt signaling pathways regulating apoptosis and the neural development was summarized in order to clarify the mechanism of NTDs and provide clues.
