Through　an　in-depth　investigation　on　the　number,　size,　type,　distribution　and　usage　of　public　facilities　for　the　elderly,　this　paper　reveals　the　current　problems　of　such　facilities　in　Beijing,　and　it　also　discloses　the　impact　of　the　spatial　distribution　of　population　structure　on　the　demand　of　the　public　facilities　for　the　elderly.　Based　on　their　characteristics,　those　public　facilities　are　then　classified　into　nursing　hospital,　elderly　community,　special　facilities　for　geriatrics　patients,　hospice　center　and　facilities　for　social　assistance.　On　the　basis　of　such　analysis,　this　paper　summarizes　the　characteristics　and　development　trends　of　each　type,　which　include　public　facilities　for　the　elderly　is　a　necessary　complement　to　the　in-house　care,　the　number　of　public　facilities　for　the　elderly　will　continue　to　surge,　the　number　of　centralized　public　facilities　will　decrease　after　reaching　its　peak,　public　facilities　will　gradually　be　small-scale　and　community-based　in　future.　Finally,　starting　from　the　reality　of　Beijing,　this　paper　proposes　suggestions　for　the　development　planning　of　the　public　facilities　for　the　elderly　in　future,　based　on　the　development　features　of　such　facilities　in　Beijing.
