A series of solid solutions of GaxFe4-xN (0 <= x <=.0.9) powders were synthesized by solid gas reaction, and were formed with 10wt% paraffin as a binder to be bonded magnets. The effect of Ga doping on crystal structure, saturated magnetization, coercivity and complex permeability of Fe4N was investigated. The results show that the lattice parameters of the nitrides increase with increasing content of Ga ions. The saturation magnetization of GaxFe4-xN reveals an almost linear decrease with increasing Ga content. On the other hand, appropriate amount of Ga doping in Fe4N powder reduces the coercivity. When x changes within the range from 0.4 to 0.6, a minimum value of coercivity H-c can reach 10 Oe. Within the frequency range of 10 MHz similar to 1 GHz, a small amount of Ga doping can slightly increase the initial permeability and the maximum of imaginary part, but reduces the cut-off frequency. With the further increase of Ga doping, the permeability decreases distinctly.
