Taking contemporary society as the background, and the present prominent social contradictions and sensitive topics for direction, the realistic literature of Japan has exposed all sorts of profound social issues. In recent years, the settings of several literary works are described as being outside of Japan, including China. In these literary works, Japanese writers have portrayed images of China through different perspectives. Taking Yamasaki Toyoko" s social novel "'Daichi no Ko'" as an example, this paper discusses the image of China in modem Japanese literature as well as the various aspects of influences brought by this literary work.
