A pulse variable polarity arc welding control system was developed. It adopted mieroeontroller STM32F103CBT6 em-bedded in with Cortex-M3 core. This system made use of the advanced-control time-TIM1 in microcontroller to realize fast pulse exchange, in addition to adjusting in large scale for pulse frequency, start position, duty cycle. Using the cooperation between timers (TIM1 and TIM3), the accurate delay for a signal to trigger a spectroscope was achieved. And some additional functions were com-pleted, including measurement, monitor and translation of system voltages; parameter input, display and store; and some other func-tions.
