摘要:
Objective: To investigate the feasibility of magnetoencephalography (MEG) imaging in localizing sensory motor cortex for brain tumor surgery. Methods: There were 36 patients with brain tumors in this study including 19 with meningomas, 14 gliomas, 2 metastases, and 1 cavernous angioma. All patients underwent MEG and magnetic resonance imaging before surgery. These individualized functional brain maps were integrated into a neuronavigation system for intraoperative analysis. Presurgical mapping of somatosensory and/or motor cortex was performed and sites were compared before and after surgery. Results: MEG demonstrated that the tumor lesion expected sensory motor cortex location in various degrees of displacement and desformation for the 36 patients. Brain tumors were resected completely in 34 cases. After surgery, neurological deficits fully recovered in 19 cases, unchanged in 15 cases, and deteriorated in 2 cases. Conclusions: MEG was found to be practical and useful in localizing sensory motor cortex and brain tumor. It is a valuable noninvasive method for presurgical planning in the treatment of brain tumors.
