Abstract:

A europium complex [Eu-2(bmd)(2)(Hbmd)(2)(H2O)(8)] center dot 8H(2)O (H(2)bmd=Benzimidazole-5,6-dicarboxylic acid) has been synthesized and structurally determined by X-ray diffraction single crystal structure analysis. The crystal belongs to triclinic, space grounp P (1) over bar, with a=0.754 49(15) nm, b=1.253 8(3) run, c=1.405 8(3) nm, alpha=71.03(3)degrees, beta=82.83(3)degrees, gamma=79.12(3)degrees, V=1.232 1(5) nm(3), Z=1. The complex is a binuclear compound and each E(III) ion is nine-coordinated. The versatile hydrogen bonds link binuclear units into a three-dimensional (3D) supermolecular network. Furthermore, the fluorescent properties of the complex have been investigated at room temperature. CCDC: 742510.
