摘要:
Transparent tantalum-pentoxide (Ta2O5) ceramics with high density (> 97%) were prepared from commercial powder by laser sintering without addition of additives at ambient pressure. The ceramic pellet sintered at power density of 5.2 kW/cm(2) for 30 s, then cooling for 60 s exhibits the best transparency. The transmittance of the sample of 0.5 mm thick is up to 35% during the wavelength range from 270 to 3000 nm. The achievement of the transparency is attributed to the grains preferred growth resulting in elongation of grain boundaries, pure phase and low porosity due to the strictly heating directivity and the mass transfer in liquid phase during laser sintering.
