Numerical approach to the impact response of laminated composite thin plate with multiple delaminations under the low-velocity is proposed. Based on the stacked shell elements, a new technique is used to study the laminated thin plate with arbitrary number and oriented plies. The stacked shells are tied by the constrain conditions to ensure structural integrity. Arbitrary number and size of delaminations at any location of the laminate plate can be represented. Moreover, in order to prevent the interpenetration of delaminated surface, contact constraint conditions must be imposed. To satisfy the tied and contact constraint conditions, a new accurate and adequate method is derived for the stacked shells. Based on the proposed approaches, we have developed a program and used it to do numerical simulation of response process of long-fiber reinforced carbon/epoxy composite laminate plate under low velocity impact. A good agreement between the numerical results and the corresponding test data is obtained.
