Numerical investigation on the supersonic separator with different cyclone location

The natural gas supersonic separation technology based on gas dynamics and heat and mass transfertheory is a new type of gas-liquid separation technology.Swirler which is one of the key components inside the supersonic separator plays a vital role in the separation efficiency.Not only has the structure of the swiler,but also the position of swirler had a significant effect on the dehydration performance and on the flow field characteristic of the supersonic separator.However the experimental and simulation studies of the effect of swirler''s position are relatively scarce.The main task of this paper is establish a two-dimensional numerical model,and with the help of commercial CFD software (ANSYS FLUENT version 14.0) predict the flow characteristics of the supersonic separator in which four different swirler position were presented for the simulation investigation.Through the numerical results,the diverse flow parameters such as pressure,temperature,velocity etc.can be demonstrated effectively.Besides,it is shown,via numerical simulation,that the results may be used to find close to optimal values of the geometric parameters of the supersonic separator.
