In this study, a new cool storage tray for quick freezing is developed specifically for domestic refrigerator, and the time needed for the two identical test packages, one placed on the cool storage tray and the other one directly in the freezing chamber, to pass through the zone of maximum ice crystal formation is compared. It takes 1# and 2# test package 1091 min and 803 min to decrease from the room temperature to the freezing chamber temperature, and 356 min and 181 min to pass through the zone of maximum ice crystal formation, with a decrease of 26.4% and 49.2%, respectively. Thus the use of cool storage tray decreases freezing time. The thermal conductivity of 2# test package is increased by almost 1.3 times as compared with 1# test package. The theoretical result agrees well with the experimental result for 1# and 2# test package, with a difference of only 5% and 7.6%.
