Abstract:
As an additives in plastics, di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) enter the environment during the production of plastic and plastic material or after disposal. Although the concentrations of DEHP in water bodies are low, it's carcinogenic and exhibit adverse reproductive effects. This article presents a method for DEHP determination in water and removal performances of biological aerated filter from secondary treatment sewage effluent are also evaluated. All results show that, DEHP is widespread distributed in Chinese water bodies. When the turbidity or suspend solids in water are high, we need to filter the water for precise determination. Biological aerated filter showed a desirable removal rate when it used to polish the secondary treatment effluent. Within the influent DEHP concentration 20 mu g/L, the effluent DEHP concentration of biological aerated filter could meet the demand of Chinese GB/T19772-2005 standards.
