Abstract:
Dense tungsten bronze Ba0.5Sr1.5Na0.6K0.4Nb5O15 [(BSKNN) x=1.5, y=0.4] piezoelectric ceramic is produced by CO2 laser sintering method of 9 minute duration. The observed XRD spectra indicate that both laser sintered and furnace sintered ceramic are of crystallized tungsten bronze structure. Microstructure examination of both laser and furnace sintered ceramics show the former have smaller grain size, fewer pores and a greater density of 4.87 g/cm(3). The laser sintered Ba0.5Sr1.5Na0.6K0.4Nb5O15 [(BSKNN) x=1.5, y=0.4] ceramic demonstrate piezoelectric properties for; maximum reached polarization and remnant polarization, P-m=8.27 mu C/cm(2) and P-r=3.25 mu C/cm(2), coercive field of E-c=7.01 kV/cm. The piezoelectric constant d(33)=55 pC/N
