Bottlenecks　in　the　development　of　the　Internet　technology　had　brought　enormous　demand　on　and　broad　market　space　to　the　IPv6,　and　commercialization　of　IPv6　has　become　an　important　strategic　objective.　So　in　this　paper,　a　demonstration　research　had　carried　out　on　the　IPv6　technology　commercialization　potential　based　on　the　United　States　patent　databases　(USPTO),　by　referencing　the　method　mentioned　in　Conceptual　Framework　of　Technology　Commercial　Perspective　Analysis　Based　on　Patent,　which　wrote　by　Professor　Huang　Lucheng.　The　overall　development　trends　of　IPv6　technology,　the　distribution　of　research　fields,　technical　quality,　as　well　as　the　countries　who　did　some　research　on　IPv6　technology　and　technology　opportunities　for　these　countries　were　also　be　studied..　And　the　following　conclusion　was　drawn:　though　the　IPv6　technology　is　not　mature,　as　well　as　it　is　still　in　the　early　stages　of　commercialization,　it　has　broad　market　prospects,　and　IPv6　technology　related　to　IPC　H04L　12/28　and　G06F　15/16　will　have　the　best　commercial　prospects.
