摘要:
A detailed study of the microstructural features in Nitinol stents was performed, which included TEM examination to determine the grain structure evolution during stent processing. The samples were extracted from the surface of pre-laser cut tubes, laser cut vascular stents, and electropolished stents. A Focused Ion Beam (FIB) was used for preparation of TEM samples. The analysis has shown that the laser cutting process dramatically changes the surface microstructure of the stent by producing a Heat Affected Zone. However, in the case of the stents analyzed here, the electropolishing procedure adequately removed the Heat Affected Zone completely. Characterization of the main morphologic features of the material was based on TEM imaging, and the effect of the different processing steps on the crystallographic texture was determined by adequate selection of different sample locations.
