Combining the theory of ecosystem and the regional innovation system (RIS), this paper puts forward a new concept: regional innovation ecosystem (RIES), which consists of the multiple technology innovation organizations and multiple technology innovation environments in a region. RIES has provided such a good approach that we can use ecology metaphor for in making scientific researches on RIS.
