Amount of the coal mine ventilation air methane(VAM) is unable to be made effective use and discharges into the atmosphere for the low concentration of methane. It not only pollutes the environment but also results in a waste of energy resource. In this paper, the VAM was enriched experimentally. The first pilot VAM enrichment equipment with the gas processing capacity of 500 m3/h was built. The plant included two-stage VPSA separation system with three parallel connected adsorbers respectively, where we introduced a new process with the effluent gas pressurization step and vacuum exhaust step. By employing a modified coconut active carbon, the VAM concentration can raise from 0.2% to more than 1.2%. The result shows the vacuum emission process could enrich the concentration of the product significantly, when the vacuum exhaust ratio increase from 0 to 0.224, the methane concentration of the product increases 1.89 times. The adsorption heat has little influence on the temperature of the adsorber, and the temperature variation during the VPSA cycle is no more than 3 °C.
