In this paper, the acoustic microscope is used to study the acoustic propagation characteristics and quality evaluation methods of the oxide dispersion strengthened ferritic steel, which is the basic industrial material in the future nuclear energy field. Time domain analysis and frequency domain analysis methods were used to get the elastic constants of oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) ferritic steel samples with different chromium contents in comparison experiments. The experiment results show that both of the ultrasonic testing methods are applicable to determine the elastic properties of this material, and the compactability of the formed materials can be detected using the velocity comparison. This technology provides a feasible method for the studies of the mechanical property characterization and quality testing technique of ODS ferritic steel materials.
