A 3-D model of large size of hydrostatic support was established in this paper in order to investigate the influence of temperature-viscosity and pressure-viscosity characteristics on the work performance of oil film in the hydrostatic support system. The effect of oil's capacity, temperature and viscosity were studied in the simulation by making use of the Finite Volume Method. It is indicated from the results that the temperature-viscosity and pressure-viscosity characteristics obviously affect the carrying capacity of the oil chamber and the temperature rise. Results of the computational model considering the temperature-viscosity and pressure-viscosity characteristics in this paper have good agreement with that in actual operating conditions and also have guiding significance to select lubricant in the hydrostatic support system.
