摘要:
The removal efficiencies of odor compounds are investigated by enhanced coagulation combining potassium permanganate with powdered activated carbon under simulated conditions. Results show that GSM removal within the treatment process is particularly efficient when utilizing potassium permanganate together with powdered activated carbon at concentrations of 30 mg/L and 1.0 mg/L, respectively. The time for adsorption of the carbon and oxidation of the potassium permanganate are determined to be most efficient at 30 min and 1.0 min, respectively. Similarly, the best condition for removing 2-MIB through this process was by dosing the powdered activated carbon and the potassium permanganate at concentrations of 30 mg/L and 1.5 mg/L, respectively. The time for adsorption of the carbon was 60 min as well as dosing the potassium permanganate into the reactor with aluminium polychloride. The synergy of potassium permanganate to powdered activated carbon helps remove organics from the water body.
