Abstract:
Realization errors degrade the reconstruction performance of hybrid filter bank (HFB) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) system. A general analysis, which takes into consideration analog imperfections and channel mismatches based on HFB architecture, is presented in theories and simulations. Then, a flexible frequency-dependent equivalent model (FDEM) is derived to integrate the realization errors and used as the calibration object for the synthesis filter banks. A two-channel HFB ADC prototype with 12-bit resolution and 200 MHz sampling rate was implemented. Experiment results show that using the proposed calibration method, the average spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) in a span over 93% of the whole frequency spectrum (7% over-sampling) is enhanced from 35 dB to 87 dB, which proves the feasibility of the proposed method.
