Abstract:
In this paper, firstly, the rectangle section shear wall was selected to research because it is the relatively weak seismic member in shear wall structural system. Secondly, the experimental studies on the seismic performance of four 1/3 scale shear walls with different types of concealed bracings under cyclic loading were carried out. The four test specimens includes one common shear wall, one with concealed steel bar bracings, one with concealed shape steel bracings and one with concealed steel bar and shape steel bracings. The experimental results show that the primary inclined crack of shear wall with concealed bracings tends to develop towards the angle of concealed bracings, and that the narrow cracks distribute across a wide area. The energy dissipation capacity of shear wall with concealed bracings is large. The height of the zone of the potential plastic hinge of shear wall with concealed bracings is longer than conventional shear walls. Compared with conventional shear wall, the cracking load, yielding load and ultimate load of shear walls with concealed bracings are increased obviously; their stiffness in later stages of loading have better stability; their ductility factor and the energy dissipation value are increased greatly and their hysteretic loops are plumber. The seismic performance of the shear wall with concealed bracings are improved greatly. In addition, the seismic performance of the shear wall with concealed steel bar and shape steel bracings is the best among four specimens.
