A flat plate heat pipe (FPHP) can remove hot spots and thus results in more uniform temperature distribution in electronic devices, and also heat sink can obtain better performance. In order to investigate the characteristics of phase change heat transfer in FPHP, we manufactured a transparent FPHP. The performance of the FPHP with two kinds of working fluids was experimentally measured under different heat fluxes and convection conditions. We also studied the effects of the groove structure on enhancing boiling heat transfer.
