摘要:
Nano SiC doped MgB2 bulks are fabricated by using both SPS (Spark Plasma Sintering) technique and conventional sintering method. It was found that the denser MgB2 bulks could be synthesized through the SPS technique. The density of the SPS sintered bulks reachs 2.0853 g/cm3 which is 90% of the theoretical density of MgB2 material, being 30% higher compared to that of the bulks made by conventional method. The observation of the micrograph of the SPS sintered MgB2 bulk reveals that the surface of the bulk is very uniform and dense. Meanwhile, The Jc of the sample reaches 2.6 × 105 A/cm2 (20 K, 0 T), which was increased by 18% and 44% (20 K, 4 T) compared to that of the sample prepared by conventional method, respectively. It is demonstrated that superconductive MgB2 bulks with high density can be obtained through a high pressure, short and quick processing route of SPS which is different from conventional method. The superconductivity of MgB2 bulks is expected to be improved by the further understanding of the SPS sintering mechanism.
