Abstract:

This paper analyzed the structure of asphalt pavement with granular base by nonlinear finite element method, in which the granular base was modeled with the Boyce nonlinear elastic model enhanced with a Drucker-Prager plasticity model and other layers were modeled with elastic model. The displacement, stress and plastic strain of this structure were discussed. The results show that the maximal displacement point is on the surface along the symmetrical axis under uniform pressure; the maximal stress point is on the bottom of the first layer; and the radial length of plastic strain is no more than 3.5 times of equivalent circle radius. Compared with the empirical formula, the calculation results is reasonable, which will be helpful to find out the instance of the asphalt pavement with granular base acted by uniform pressure.
