Development of ground settlement induced by shield tunneling was simulated by 3D numerical model. Ground settlement in both transverse and longitudinal directions was simulated with a step-excavation approach. Based on Peck's formula, the results of numerical model were compared with in-situ measurements in terms of settlement trough, which showed good agreements. It is proved that the model is quite effective to dynamically simulate the ground settlement during the advance of shield tunneling.
