The　application　area　of　ionic　liquid　can　be　extensively　expanded　as　it　is　functionalized.　The　immobilization　of　the　functionalized　ionic　liquids　could　combine　the　advantages　of　ionic　liquids　and　solid　supported　materials.　When　the　supported　ionic　liquid　is　applied　as　catalyst　or　media　in　the　reaction,　the　reaction　and　separation　of　material　and　product　and　the　recycling　of　catalyst　will　be　carried　out　more　conveniently　and　economically.　In　this　paper,　some　recent　research　developments　on　the　application　and　immobilisation　of　ionic　liquid　are　reviewed.
