Context: It is vital to investigate that why employees of an organization do or do not prefer to share their acquired knowledge with coworkers and how their perceived barriers and fears influence their knowledge sharing intentions in a working environment. Objective: This study aims to understand significant factors and motives that influence or reduce employee’s intention to share knowledge with coworkers in an organization. Method: We planned a field study with 125 employees including HRM and Line managers in an IT service company to test our hypotheses. The structural equation modeling (SEM) approach is employed to test whether our hypotheses are true or not. Results: Results supported the positive effects of ethical leadership, R&R and technology related constructs and showed positive effect of Knowledge Transfer upon employee’s knowledge sharing intention. Contribution: This research contributes to concept of Knowledge Sharing and exploring its part in the knowledge seeking and contribution. It will help managers to learn how to promote knowledge sharing intentions between employees by applying knowledge oriented and ethical Leadership, R&R and use of technology. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
