Advanced Connected Cruise Control (CCC) system technology and resource management of Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) are conducive to alleviate traffic congestion and improve road safety. This paper focuses on the joint optimization of the control strategy and resource management of CCC system in the presence of short communication delays, and an optimal control algorithm is proposed which can realize the smooth following driving of CCC vehicle and reduce the power consumption of Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication. Firstly, the vehicle dynamics modeling of the multiple-vehicle platoon and power consumption analysis of the CCC vehicle are carried out. Then, the joint optimization problem of the quadratic cost function which the optimization objective is to minimize the vehicle dynamic errors and power consumption is established. By using a backward recursion method, the optimization algorithm of near-equilibrium case is obtained. Then, the optimization algorithm results are further extended to the general time-varying headway case. © 2020 IEEE.
