This paper proposes a novel and innovative jaw-type transplanting mechanism It can perform the movement of the transplanting jaws by telescopic cylinders. This mechanism can improve the transplanting efficiency, and reduce the damage to the seedlings in the nursery during the transplanting process. It is composed of a semi-circular extension slot and a transplanting jaw, and these two parts form a circular ring that pulls the nursery in the seedling tray out of the lifting cylinder. The nursery is analyzed by using finite element analysis method. The result shows that the maximum stress of the nursery is 2447 Pa and the maximum strain is 1.536 × 10-8 when the transplanting jaw was taken 25 mm from the top of the nursery. This moment the stressed and strained of the nursery is subjected to the least. In this case, the diameter of the nursery clip taken by the transplanting jaw is 60 mm, and thus the bending radius of the jaw is 60 mm. © 2019 IEEE.
