Abstract:
In this research, a new type of slurry blast machine has been developed, which uses slurry mixtures of water and abrasives to impact moving steel belts to achieve mechanical descaling. A test rig of water pressure descaling system was established, and the descaling efficiency of slurry spray was tested. Then, the influence of motor speed, pressure, flow rate, and target distance on descaling efficiency was studied, and complete scale removal was realized. The experiment results exhibited: (1) the output impact force of the slurry blast machine is proportional to the motor speed and flow rate, and inversely proportional to the target distance. (2) The system pressure mainly affects the vacuum degree in the mixing chamber, and has little effect on the impact force. (3) Abrasive jet has a greater impact force than non-abrasive jet because the abrasive density increases the average density of mixed slurry jet. This research is expected to provide a guidance for the structural optimization of slurry blast machine, and it will also provide a new method used for strip descaling. © 2019 IEEE.
