Traffic safety is a critical issue. The safety evaluation of roads and traffic facilities lacks systematic evaluation methods. This study aims at researching safety features of road and traffic facilities at the entrance of the interchange area for safety evaluation and improvement of road traffic facilities. Firstly, this study divided road types and selected road conditions. This study takes interchange as an example to analyze the impact of road and traffic facilities 500 meters in front of the interchange entrance on traffic safety. Secondly, this study selected road facilities (number of lanes, traffic disturbance), traffic facilities (the complexity of diagrammatic guide signs, advance guide system, the number of warning sign) and risk driving behavior to explore the relationship between the position of risk driving events and road traffic facilities, and to observe the impact of road and traffic facilities on safety. The research results can be used for reference in the construction of new road traffic facilities and provide technical support for the establishment of related management departments. © 2019 IEEE.
