摘要:
Commuting travel is the main part of urban resident travel, and bus travel accounts for the highest percentage among all travel modes. The development and application of intelligent transport systems provide the necessary data foundation for bus operation monitoring and characteristic analysis. First, this paper proposes a model for calculating bus travel speeds on a commuting corridor. Then, a method of analyzing spatial-temporal distribution characteristics is established to extract the multi-dimensional features of bus travel speed, including road class, time period, and spatial location. Finally, the paper takes actual bus travel speed data of 15 main commuting corridors in Beijing as a case study. The results show that, with bus lanes, bus travel speed would increase 18.2 percent. The bus travel speed calculation model and spatial-temporal distribution characteristic analysis method reveal the micro-characteristics of bus operation on commuting corridors. They can provide support to make and implement bus optimization plans. © 2014 American Society of Civil Engineers.
