Abstract:
Based on the extended period simulation of EPANET software, and a calculation method on leakage modeling is proposed, the aim of the paper is to present the variation pattern of water consumption, water loss and the benefits yielded by pressure management during 24 hours on the basis of the relation among leakage, consumption and pressure. The results are that, if it is assumed that the inlet pressure of DMA is reduced from 39m to 31m through PRV, the average daily water consumption and water loss are respectively reduced 10.83%, 20.52%, and the average pressure of the critical point is reduced 21.13%, then the quantity of daily water loss and consumption saved by pressure management are great, which will produce the great economic benefits annually. © ASCE 2013.
