In the 1990s, industrial technology road map first was applied and suc-cessful in the U.S. semiconductor industry. Under the influence of the United States, many major countries have launched their own industries technical road map. Industrial technology road map is increasingly becoming innovation guide-lines within the industry. This paper analyses the development of industrial tech-nology road map. We explain the emphases and difficulties in roadmap-making process. Finally, we try to study the R&D industry roadmap, and explain the in-struction function of the method.
