Abstract:
The 2006 IASS Symposium and APCS Conference were organized in Beijing on October 16-19, 2006 to represent and discuss on some topics including New Olympics, New Shell, and Spatial Structures. Professor Tien T. Lan was conferred Honorary Membership of IASS due to his achievements in spatial structures and distinguished contribution to the IASS. The participants in the discussion included many researchers, engineers, architects, builders, and other professionals around the world. There were altogether 293 formally registered participants who came from 33 countries, in which 206 participants came from countries other than China. More than 200 papers were presented in the conference that featured the presentation of Hangai Prize papers and the introduction of the Beijing Olympic Projects. Several real applications were reported for the construction of sports buildings, convention and exhibition centers, and hangars for the promotion of the developments of spatial structures in the future.
