摘要:

Laser transformation hardening was carried out on U74 rail steel by a self-developed high power diode laser. The results show that the hardness of the hardened layer of the steel can reach 800~900 HV0.01, and is 3~4 times of the substrate steel's. In addition, it is quite differences between the hardened layers scanned along fast beam axis and slow beam axis, the hardened layer is deeper when scanned along slow beam axis direction, but the hardness falls down rapidly in the transition zone. Overall, the high power diode laser is more competitive for surface hardening in laser processing field.
