Abstract:

The high-rise RC shear wall with bi-directional single row of steel bars is applicable for multistory residence building. In order to know the seismic performance of this shear wall, experimental studies on specimens of four high-rise shear wall under a low-frequency quasi-static cyclic loading were carried out. A specimen was high-rise RC shear wall with bi-directional double row of steel bars, two specimens were high-rise RC shear walls with bi-directional single row of steel bars, and a specimen was high-rise RC shear wall with bi-directional single row of steel bars and concealed bracing. Based upon the experimental studies, load-carrying capacity, ductility and its stiffness, degradation, hysteretic behavior, energy dissipation and failure phenomena of each shear wall are contrastively analyzed, and the effects of concealed bracing on the seismic performance of this shear wall are discussed. The experiments show that the high-rise RC shear wall with single row of steel bars will be able to satisfy the requirements of seismic design for multistory residence building if rational design is carried out.
