The properties and microstructure evolution of the cold rolled Al-0.04Er and Al-0.08Zr alloys were investigated during annealing for different time. The results indicate that the influence of Er element on electrical conductivity of Al matrix is less than that of Zr element with the same concentration. Moreover, Er element can precipitate out thoroughly after annealing and has less influence on the conductivity, so the electrical conductivity of the Al-Er alloy is higher than that of the Al-Zr alloy. For the Al-Zr alloy, the electrical conductivity increases with the precipitation of Zr atoms, but the hardness decreases due to recovery and recrystallization of the cold rolled microstructure. For the Al-Er alloy, both electrical conductivity and hardness increase with the increased of annealing time during the early stage of the annealing treatment. With further increase of the annealing time, the electrical conductivity increases, while the hardness decreases due to the coarsening of the precipitates and the succedent recovery and recrystallization. © 2018, Editorial Office of "Jinshu Rechuli".
