Abstract:

Landfill leachate treatment is an emerging topic in the wastewater treatment field. This paper provided a review of the landfill leachate quality and different treatment methods, along with a critical review of current physico-chemical and biological treatment techniques. Biochemical techniques are the primary techniques used for leachate treatment, while the physico-chemical methods are generally used for pretreatment or advanced treatments. Enhancing the biochemical process and improving the efficiency of nitrogen removal from landfill leachate would be the potential direction for future research and industrial applications. © 2018, Editorial Department of Journal of Beijing University of Technology.
