More and more attention has been given to understanding the uncertainty regarding the travel time. In this paper, travel time is studied by collecting video monitoring data on Beijing Jingtong Expressway. The data shows that vehicle travel time is influenced by departure time, bus lane, vehicle restriction, and the number of exits and entrances and anomaly events. This paper determines three travel time reliability evaluation models to study 15 min interval travel time reliability based on Florida Department of Transportation's research results, Beijing urban road traffic operation evaluation system and the results of questionnaire survey of traveler. The results suggest there are significant differences among the reliabilities under different models. Last, on the basis of dynamic optimization method, traffic management department can optimize traffic operation management scheme and improve traffic operation quality. Results of this paper can provide reference to road planning, operation management, and information publication. © ASCE.
