Abstract:
This paper develops a new error loaded contact analysis method for a cycloid bevel gear which considers elastic deformation of the gear pair, supporting system distortion, tooth manufacturing errors, and machine setting errors. The method provides a more realistic analysis when using a loaded tooth contact analysis and can be used to solve the true contact area under load, transmission errors, load distribution, and manufacturing simulation. With V -H-J setting parameters and machine setting parameters we can compensate for error impact to improve the transmission performance and to modify the size and position of the contact area. As a numerical example, the contact status of a helical gear pair having a 90 degree crossing angle is analyzed with analytical software using the error loaded tooth contact method. The numerical results show that the method is a reasonable and efficient way to enhance the transmission characteristics of a cycloid bevel gear. The method may also be extended to hypoid gearing types. © 2012 American Scientific Publishers. All rights reserved.
